The programme is taught partly in schools to groups of teachers. It is for qualified teachers in all sectors of education who are interested in a practice-based programme and wish to undertake masters level continuing professional development. It is appropriate for classroom teachers and those with positions of responsibility for teaching and learning within schools.
Entry requirementsA good first degree and strong references from appropriate referees. You should be teaching in the UK for the duration of the programme. You will need the support of your headteacher for the MTL to be taught in your school to a group of participants.
Core topicsBy coursework, including a presentation to colleagues, an action plan and rationale to develop an aspect of your teaching (5,000 words), and a 10,000-word report or 18,000-word dissertation on your teacher enquiry.
AttendanceMixed mode, including online learning, school-based sessions and occasional evening face-to-face sessions.
