The third largest and most populous island in the Mediterranean, Cyprus is a popular tourist destination. This is thanks to its favourable weather, great nightlife and beautiful mountain range. The country is in the top three education spenders in the world, investing around 7% of its GDP on education.
Whilst it’s well known for its sunny beaches and long summers, Cyprus is also home to a rich and high-quality education system. Even though Cyprus is a Mediterranean island it still has a surprising number of institutions offering degrees and programs. These institutions are a combination of public and private universities. Both offer excellent facilities and degrees of a high standard at a reasonable cost.
International students wishing to study in Cyprus will need to obtain a student visa. For more information, see our Cyprus Student Visa Guide.

Most courses delivered at public and private institutions in Cyprus are in English. This means that your level of English language needs to be of a certain standard. The standard of English will usually be listed as an entry requirement when applying.
If your English is not at the required standard, it is quite common for colleges and universities to offer pre-sessional English programmes. These allow prospective students to improve their language skills.
